Hands-on Cooking Class
With our hands-on class format each student will participate in every recipe, learning all of the components and techniques to the dish. The chef instructor will demonstrate each recipe in front of the class and then students will prepare the dish themselves. The class ends with a dinner party of all dishes prepared. These hands-on classes are designed to be participatory by each student, but if you are not comfortable doing any, or all, aspects it is not required and you should only do what you are comfortable doing. In no time at all you’ll be amazed at what you can cook. These hands-on classes are designed to be approximately three hours, but can range from two to four hours depending on the menu, complexity, number of questions, number of items being taught, cooking times, etc. A general time estimate will be given in each class description.
Presentation Cooking Classes
Maverick’s presentation format is more casual and free flowing than the hands-on format. The class as a whole will learn from the chef instructor as he/she prepares each item in front of them. There is a lot of back and forth with questions and answers and students will be encouraged to volunteer and participate in specific steps of the recipe. The class ends with a dinner party of all dishes prepared. These presentation classes are not designed to be participatory, or hands-on, by everyone. Volunteers are welcome to step up when asked, but it is not required and totally optional.
